SINKER CYPRESS
Sinker Cypress logs were harvested over a century ago, floated downriver to sawmills, and lost to the riverbed before they could be processed. Submerged for generations in oxygen-deprived waterways, the logs were preserved and, in some cases, continue to mineralize to a degree that rivals the density of hardwoods. The result is a timber with extraordinary stability, deep color variation, and a natural resistance to decay. Some of the logs we recover are over 1,000 years old. Sinker Cypress produces custom millwork with a character that cannot be replicated in new-growth timber.
PECKY SINKER CYPRESS
A specific form of Sinker Cypress distinguished by a naturally occurring pocket pattern caused by a now-extinct fungus that existed only in old-growth trees. Pecky Sinker Cypress is one of the most visually striking materials available for architectural millwork. Panels, wall planks, ceiling planks, and custom profiles in Pecky Cypress become irreplaceable design features in any interior.
SINKER HEART PINE
Longleaf Heart Pine was the structural and finish timber of early American construction. Reclaimed from antebellum-era structures, river recoveries, and historic sites, our Sinker Heart Pine carries a tight grain structure, deep amber tones, and a hardness that outperforms most contemporary species. Flooring planks, ceiling boards, and wall planks in Heart Pine bring a warmth and historical depth that no manufactured alternative can match.
TIDEWATER CYPRESS
Standing-growth Tidewater Cypress and Tidewater Pecky Cypress, harvested from the coastal waterways of the Gulf South, are prized for their dimensional stability and natural rot resistance, making it one of the finest choices for both interior and exterior architectural millwork applications.

Mill-Direct: From Recovery to Your Job Site
Most custom millwork suppliers source their raw material from brokers. Bruner Lumber does not. We self-recover the majority of our sinker logs directly from Northwest Florida and South Alabama waterways and swamps. Those logs are brought to our facility, custom-milled on-site, dried in our own drying operation, and finished to your specifications before shipping.
